Matching, Rescheduling & Cancellation Policy

The HandyBuddy platform helps facilitate matching individuals in need of an expert for their Home Improvement Project with a third-party who provides the service (an “Expert”). We make it our mission to ensure that customer's have been matched with only the top performing experts in their area. We do this by closely monitoring each and every expert in our Expert Marketplace for quality, responsiveness and timeliness. However, from time to time, customers who have been matched have a need to make changes to their request so HandyBuddy has clearly outlined it's matching, rescheduling, cancellation & policy for all on-site services as follows to ensure all parties involved are treated fairly and compensated accordingly for efforts extended:

MATCHING
If the status of your request is one of Matched or Scheduled and your appointment preference and/or appointment date has not passed, you are eligible for a one-time matching fee (regardless if the matched expert has contacted you yet or not). This is already included in the quoted amount and does not change to the total amount due; your quote is still what was shared with you at the time you placed your order. The matching fee is as follows:
  •   $90 for each service in your request less than or equal to $485.99 
  • $140 for each service in your request greater than $485.99 and less than or equal to $885.99
  • $190 for each service in your request greater than $885.99 and less than or equal to $1485.99
  • $240 for each service in your request greater than $1485.99
If you requested more than 1 service, the matching fee applies to each service in your request. If you cancel your request after you have been matched but before the appointment preference you specified, the matching fee shall be applied accordingly. If you are not satisfied with the assigned expert, let us know and we can re-assign your request to another expert should you so desire. If for whatever reason, you are still not satisfied with the matched expert, your machining fee may be waived (see below).
i. Waiver of the matching fee in the event of a cancellation is possible only under certain circumstances, depending upon the situation (e.g. expect rescheduled, technician did not show up, etc) and at the sole discretion of HandyBuddy.
ii. We may request proof to substantiate your reasons to waive the fee in order for it to be considered. You changed your mind, found it cheaper, or decided to do it yourself is not a valid reason to have the matching fee waived.
 
RESCHEDULING 
Customers always have the option to reschedule a confirmed appointment to a future date in the event if circumstances beyond their control arise.
i. If nobody is home to receive us on the day/time of the scheduled appointment window and we are unable to complete the service, you may be subject to a $50 no-show fee.
 
CANCELLING
Customers may cancel a service request at their own discretion at any time, free of any additional charges, subject to the following conditions:
i.  If you cancel a request prior to your appointment preference (as shared with us when you submitted your request), you are subject to a matching fee as outlined by the policy above, so long as you have been successfully matched with a certified expert from our Expert Marketplace. We strongly encourage you to carefully consider your cancellation request based upon the HandyBuddy policies as this can affect an expert's standing on the Expert Marketplace. The request to cancel is not dependent on when you submit it as a customer service representative must review it and approve it in order for it to be processed.
ii. If you attempt to cancel an order in which service is already in-process (ie. expert has arrived on-site), we may pro-rate the amount of the service completed and apply that to the card on file.

To cancel a service request, you need to login to your HandyBuddy account and request the cancellation online. We do not accept cancellation requests via email, chat or over the phone. Once a request has been canceled successfully, any authorization placed by us will be released and we will notify your financial institution to release the hold immediately (less any applicable matching fees as outlined above).

TRIP FEES 
In the event a part is missing or damaged or the unit itself was delivered in an inoperable state, or the area is not ready for the service (e.g. the area is not level) and the the installer needs to return to the job site on another day, you may be charged up to $90 extra for a trip fee by the local expert.  Circumstances evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the local expert. This is only in the case where a return trip is needed due to issues unrelated to the service itself and beyond the control of the expert.
 
By submitting a request with us online, you have explicitly given your agreement with the above matching, rescheduling & cancellation policy.
