What permanent outdoor lights installation costs, and what moves it
Installation is priced by the length of roofline we light, starting at $975 for up to 100 ft. That works out to under $10 a foot, and every number is on the page before you book.
- Installed length: from $975 for up to 100 ft, in steps up to 350 ft
- Two-story homes: about 25% more, for taller ladders and a second pair of hands
- Aluminum track instead of clips: about 30% more, for cutting, fitting and mounting the channel
- You are billed for the length installed: if the run comes in shorter, the price drops a step
- A few states carry a small location adjustment; it appears in your price the moment your location is set
Before your expert arrives
- Have your kit on site and unboxed, with the power adapter and any extension or track sections
- Know where the nearest outdoor outlet is — the run starts there
- Decide how far the lights run: the front, the front and sides, or all the way around
- Clear gutters of leaves where the lights will mount; a clean fascia means a straighter line
- Have the app installed and your Wi-Fi password ready so pairing happens on the spot
What to expect on installation day
- Your expert walks the roofline with you and confirms the start point, the outlet and the corners
- Lights go up section by section and are checked for a straight line from the street
- Power is connected, the app is paired and you choose your first scenes together

How much does it cost to install permanent outdoor lights?
Installation is priced by the length of roofline we light, in steps from 100 ft to 350 ft, starting at $975 for up to 100 ft — under $10 a foot. Two-story homes and aluminum track cost more, and both are in your price before you book. For comparison, dealer-installed systems that include their own lights typically run $18 to $35 a foot.
Can I hire someone to install Govee permanent outdoor lights?
Yes. Installing Govee permanent outdoor lights is the most common job we do on this page: your expert measures the eave, mounts every light in a straight line, seals the connectors, tucks the control box out of sight and sets up the Govee app with you.
Which brands of permanent outdoor lights do you install?
Govee, eufy, Enbrighten and Lumary, and other app-controlled roofline kits. The price is the same whatever brand you bought, and wherever you bought it.
Do I need to buy the lights first?
Not for much longer. Coming soon: choose “Bring them for me” and we supply the lights and ship them to your door before install day. Until then, buy a kit from any retailer and have it on site; a 100 ft kit covers the front of a typical single-story home.
Are permanent outdoor lights the same as permanent Christmas lights?
Yes. Permanent outdoor lights, permanent Christmas lights, permanent holiday lights and roofline or eave lights are the same thing: app-controlled LEDs that stay on the house all year, set to warm white for every day and to color for holidays and game days.
Clips or aluminum track: which is better?
Clips come in most kits and are the lower-cost mount. Aluminum track hides the wire and the lights inside a painted channel, so the roofline looks built in by day. Track takes more cutting and fitting, so it takes longer to install.
Will the lights be visible during the day?
On clips you will see small light pucks and a thin wire along the eave. In aluminum track they sit inside a channel painted to match the trim, which is close to invisible from the street.
How many feet of lights do I need for my house?
The front of a typical single-story home runs 80 to 120 feet; front and both sides, about 200; all the way around, 300 or more. Pick the closest step. Your expert measures on the day and you are billed for the length installed.
Can permanent lights be installed on a two-story house?
Yes. One- and two-story rooflines are routine. Tell us the number of stories when you book so your expert arrives with taller ladders and a second pair of hands.
Do I need an outdoor outlet or an electrician?
You need an existing outdoor outlet; the run starts there and the control box plugs into it. No electrician is needed for a plug-in kit. We do not add outlets or electrical circuits.
What surfaces can you mount permanent lights on?
Most fascia and soffit materials, including wood, vinyl and aluminum. Track and clips will not hold on soft or rotten wood, and we do not repair fascia, soffit or gutters.
How long does installation take?
Most single-story fronts are finished in one visit of a few hours. Longer runs, two-story homes and track installs can take most of a day.
Do you take Christmas lights down?
Yes. Seasonal light installation and removal are booked on the Holiday & Christmas Lights page, priced by the size and number of stories of your home.
When is my card charged, and can I choose the date?
There are no upfront charges: your card is charged when an expert accepts your request. You set your appointment preference when you book, and scheduling is flexible if that changes.
