Not who’s cheapest, not who paid for the lead, not who happened to be looking at their phone. Experience with your specific brand and item moves an expert up the list.

The top expert gets first refusal
Only the highest-ranked expert is offered your job. If they don’t answer inside their window it moves to the next — and their Response score carries the cost of that silence, not you.

Every match writes a record: who was on the shortlist, what each of them scored, who was picked, and who came second. It’s how we answer an expert who asks why they didn’t get a job — and how we check the ranking is doing what we say it does.
We always know who’s coming
Every expert is approved before they are in — nobody joins by signing up, and the work is never auctioned or sold on as a lead. That is what closed means, and it is why we can tell you who is arriving and what their record is before they knock.

Standards are measured on a rolling window of recent work. A great year three years ago doesn’t carry someone through a bad month now — and one rough job doesn’t define an expert either.

Across the whole network, fewer than two jobs in a hundred end in a claim under the Happiness Guarantee. Experts are held to a published target against that rate, on their own recent jobs.

A new expert isn’t measured on a handful of jobs. Below a minimum number they’re scored provisionally — enough to earn work, not enough to be condemned by a small sample.

HandyBuddy experts are independent professionals running their own businesses, not HandyBuddy employees. They set their own availability and decide which jobs to take. What we control is who gets offered what, and what happens when the work isn’t right.
You get their name and their record
Once you’re matched, you get your expert’s profile and their rating from real completed jobs — before the appointment, not when they knock.
You can ask for someone else
If a match doesn’t sit right with you, say so and we’ll go back to the shortlist. You don’t owe us a reason, and it doesn’t cost you anything.
